Add OIO bulbs to Google Home, Apple Home, and Amazon Alexa

Use this guide to add your OIO bulb to other smart home apps. Start by getting a fresh pairing code in the OIO app, then follow the code entry steps for Amazon Alexa, Google Home, or Apple Home as an additional app/controller.

Get your pairing code in the OIO app

  1. Open the OIO App and log in.
  2. From the home screen, select the room with the light from the dropdown at the top.
  3. Tap the round Lights button in the middle of the screen.
  4. Find the light in the list and swipe left on its tile, exposing the Edit button.
  5. Tap Edit.
  6. Tap Turn on Pairing Mode at the bottom of the screen.
  7. In the pop up dialog, tap Copy Code or write down the 11 digit Setup Code.

Amazon Alexa

What you’ll do: Add a Matter device in Alexa and enter the 11 digit code from the OIO app.

Steps

  1. Open Alexa → Devices → + → Add Device.
  2. Select Matter (it may be under Other → Matter).
  3. When asked if the device is already set up with another app/service, select Yes.
  4. Choose Enter code (you can skip QR) and input the 11 digit pairing code from the OIO app.
  5. Finish the prompts and assign the device.

Google Home

What you’ll do: Add a Matter enabled device and enter the numeric setup key from the OIO app.

Steps

  1. Open Google Home.
  2. Tap Devices → Add → Matter enabled device.
  3. If a QR prompt appears, choose Set up without QR code → Enter setup key.
  4. Paste or type the 11 digit Matter setup code from the OIO app.
  5. Follow prompts to assign a room and finish.

Tips

  • Make sure the bulb is powered on and near your router/phone.
  • Google recommends IPv6 enabled on your Wi Fi router for Matter over Wi Fi.
  • If Google Home can’t find the device, close/reopen the app and try again using Enter setup key.

Apple Home

What you’ll do: Add an accessory in Home and use the code from the OIO app (Apple may ask for an 11 or 21 digit code for Matter).

Steps

  1. Open Home.
  2. Tap Add → Add Accessory.
  3. Tap More options (don’t scan yet).
  4. If your accessory shows up, select it; if not, choose My accessory isn’t shown → Enter code.
  5. Paste or type the Matter setup code from the OIO app.
  6. Complete the prompts and assign a room.

Quick fixes if code entry fails

  • Use a fresh code: Matter sharing codes are time limited; generate a new one in the OIO app if you see timeouts or “expired” messages.
  • Keep the phone on the same Wi Fi used by your home, and ensure Bluetooth is on during commissioning.
  • Power cycle the bulb (off 10 seconds, back on) and retry.
  • Restart the app/phone and try the manual code entry path again (skip QR).
